Welcome
The way to get a feel for history, they say, is to live it. Feel it. And embrace it in every way possible.

That's probably why people come to Cornerstone. Of course, there are enticing attractions along the way. But people who choose to visit this country estate do so because it's a step back to the things they cherish about the American heritage. painting

Cornerstone dates back to 1704, the time when early records document a land grant from William Penn of England to William Penn's son in Philadelphia. The original house was built in the early 1700's, with additions constructed at three later times. Then, in 1820, Cornerstone was completed as the proud, gracious structure that will soon welcome you.

tribute
A Tribute to its era.

To understand the beauty of Cornerstone, think back to the pride of craftsmanship that was so much a part of colonial life. You'll see rooms adorned with woodwork, including elaborate mantles hewn by Hessian soldiers after the Revolutionary War. And, of course, there's the historic cornerstone that marks the completion of the final section.

The majesty of Cornerstone.
Take a closer look outside at the plum pudding fieldstone, a rare facade of weathered stones from nearby Avondale quarry. The varied colors grace the house's highest reaches, standing guard as they have through every time and season. The painstaking effort of Quaker masons long ago.

Return to the times when a candle in the window welcomed the weary traveler. Live among wing chairs and ruffled curtains, ticking clocks and gleaming brass. A fireplace to warm you, canopy beds to charm you. Sit back and enjoy Cornerstone's life of full measure. It is, after all, your home for a night or a fortnight.

Explore the elegant living room, tastefully furnished with 18th century pieces and two fireplaces. A reminder of the pomp and gracious style of Cornerstone's era. Bringing together the unhurried pace of the past and the conveniences of today. living room
